Fun in the sand and sun

Last month Rick and I went and spent a few days away WITHOUT kids to celebrate our anniversary and Valentine's day.

It was so beautiful and serene.  The trip got off to a bit of a rough start... When we arrived at the airport around 5:30am for our 7 am flight we noticed a nice long line.  Comes to find out our flight had been canceled and they were trying to get everyone on new flights and times.
We were able to get on a early flight and arrive at our destination around lunch time!

We spent time visiting the island a short ferry ride away, eating, shopping and we went to see the Mayan Ruins as well as spend the day at a natural waterpark.

I love my kids, but boy I do love spending some time with my husband alone.  It is such a different type of trip with the kids compared to just with the adults.  I was able to sit and relax, we were able to just enjoy grown up things.  It was really nice.

I can't wait until the next time that we get some one on one time.  It is so special.  We are thankful to have close family near to us.  My mom was able to watch the kids while we went and we are so thankful.

Here are some photos from our trip:

I read a book with some of my free time while on the trip.

Excited to board the plane

Posting from my phone...let's give this a try???

Well as you can see from the white in the background, it is SNOWING!!!
IN
TEXAS!!!
Monday and Tuesday everything was shut down due to ice, it was no fun.  We were cooped up indoors pretty much watching movies, playing boardgames, doing puzzles, and playing the wii.  By the time the sun came out on wed we were definitely all ready for some outdoor time.  Unfortunately we were only able to enjoy just a day really of sun.  Thursday it got gloomy and Friday we were full on snow and 26 degrees!  It snowed all morning and by 10 o'clock the schools were closing and calling parents.  Well I guess this whole posting from my phone might work.  It is fast easy and my photos are already here!  So this might actually work well.  Until next time :)

Another summer. Another school year.

This summer flew by!  I can't believe that we officially have a Jr. High Student (7th grade), one that is in the last year of Elementary, and one child who is in their last year of preschool!!!
The first day of school was crazy and hectic for us all, but we managed to get a few photos before everyone was off to school.

In August we celebrated my dad's birthday at my parents house.  The kids love their pop pop!

Over the summer we had so much fun doing our normal family favorites!  Skating, Six Flags, swimming and more.

We celebrated father's day at the fire station this year, Rick was on shift...

I feel like time is speeding by with my kids!  Every day, every week, and month time gets faster and faster and I lose more time with my precious little ones.  They are all growing up way too fast.

Our crazy busy life

As always lately, I donno even know where to start because it has been so long since I have updated!
Our life revolves around the kids & work now a days!!!
The preschool is going really well.  We have a waiting list for our Pre-K room and are about to begin the steps toward the next school year.  It is always so busy busy busy around there!

JC learned to ride his bike without training wheels!  He has been a little hesitant since getting them off but he is doing really great!  He just needs to be started a little and then he is on his way.

Eevie has been waiting since October to have her birthday party, but with competition cheer season was going on it was just too crazy and hectic with being in and out of town, school work, and everything else that she is involved in, we had to postpone it.  So once the season was over that was the 1st thing that was put on the calendar.  Some of her closest friends from when she was a toddler were invited and it was a active evening full of fun!   They watched the movie Frozen (even singing along) they ate, and ate, AND ate, they did cheers, and flips, and so much more!  It was a good old fashioned all girls slumber party!

Eevie had her final cheer competition and cheer banquet!  It has been bittersweet, watching her grow and learn in this new sport that she loves.  It was a crazy cheer year for us as well.  We weren't used to all the cheer lingo, the schedule, and all the competitions but we are getting better at it all.

One of my sweet photographer friends had a baby, all of us were SOOOOO excited!  I went to Frisco (which is about an hour away)  to visit her and her family in the hospital.   He was the sweetest little thing!  We are happy to have another baby in our circle of friends.

Ricky hasn't been up to much lately.  He isn't playing any sports this spring, he wanted to take some time off.  He just finished swimming and did AMAZING!  I can't believe how strong he is in the water.   He is taking a break from baseball and he will start FLAG football in the fall.   He is doing really well in school.

We recently went and saw the Wizard of Oz at a little theater here in our town.  It was really neat and very old fashioned.

I think that is about all of the most recent events here with the Herrera Bunch!  Until next time...
